WHAT AGE DO I QUALIFY FOR:

1. What age division can I compete in for 2020 Tournaments?

a) Divisions available are: 10 & UNDER, 12 & UNDER, 14 & UNDER, 18 & UNDER

i) 10s: Birthdates in 2009 until first day of the month of 11th birthday; all birthdates in 2009 and younger.

ii) 12s: Birthdates in 2007 until first day of the month of 13th birthday; all birthdates in 2007 and younger.

iii) 14s: Birthdates in 2005 until first day of the month of 15th birthday; all birthdates in 2005 and younger.

18s: Birthdates in 2001 until first day of the month of 19th birthday; all birthdates in 2001 and younger.

b) Boys are eligible only for Boys’ divisions and girls are eligible only for Girls’ divisions. (12-18s)

The 2020-2021 East Texas Jr. Gran Prix / UTR Circuit is a series of one day junior tournaments open to all area juniors who have not yet qualifed for Champs from participation in the USTA Challenger level tournaments. Champs (qualifed players) who will age up prior to August 1, 2021 (and not automatically be a Champ in their new age bracket) are eligible to participate in the age division they will qualify for as of September 1, 2021. Only champs will age up prior to August 1 are eligible - Champs (as of August 1, 2021) will not be eligible to advance to the September 2020 Jr. Gran Prix State Championships. All eligible juniors ( may participate in the age division they are eligible for as of the first day of the month of any particular tournament. Juniors who are doing very well in their current age division and who will age up prior to September 1, 2020 are encouraged to play (local tournaments) in the age division they must play in as of September 1, 2021. Juniors who are not winning the majority of their matches in their current age division are encouraged not to play “up” into the next higher age bracket even if they will age up prior to September 1, 2021. If a junior plays our local tournaments in 14's for example and finishes #1 but then turns 15 on or before September 1, 2021 he/she will not be eligible to advance to the state championships since he/she qualified in 14’s but is now 15.

The Champ rule above will be overridden for the August-December 2020 Jr. Gran Prix Tournaments while the USTA is finalizing their new Jr. Rankings for 2021.......Until further notice on this site CHAMPS MAY participate in the remaining 2020 Jr. Gran Prixs. They should enter the next higher age division from where they are Champs. 16's & 18's Champs may enter the 18 & unders.

Players will accumulate points throughout the series of events based on the following point chart.

4 points for each round won in the main draw or round robin

4 points for a BYE in the main draw if the following round is won

4 points for a 1st round default if the following round is won

(4 points will be awarded for all other default wins)

2 points for each round won in the consolation draw

1 point for participating in and completing two rounds in each tournament

All Jr. Gran Prix match results beginning with the 2020-2021 Circuit will count towards the player's UTR (Universal Tennis Rating).

If a player withdraws or no shows from (2) events then he will be ineligible to advance with Team East Texas to the State Championships.

Entry Fee for singles in each event is payable by credit card only at www.EastTexasTennis.topdoglive.com and is $20 inclusive of registration fee and entry fee. Entry fees cannot be refunded. If a junior enters a tournament and needs to withdraw prior to the tournament deadline he/she may request by email (prior to the deadline of the event withdrawing from) to be moved to another tournament on the list and must indicate which tournament they wish to move to at the time of their withdrawal. We are not able to move kids to future tournaments once the deadline for the tournament in which they are entered has passed.

The top two point earners in each age division will earn the chance to compete for Team East Texas in the Texas State Team Championships held September 2021 at John Newcomb’s Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels. Should either of the top two point earners not be able to attend the championships then others will be invited based on the strength/quality of wins, order of finish, number of events played, attitude and sportsmanship. The alternates will not necessarily be selected in order of finish. If a player qualifies for the state tournament in two age divisions from playing in different events throughout the local competition then he/she will represent the team in the "younger" age division to increase the strength of our team. Likewise if younger players play “up” and qualify for the State Tournament the team coach has the right to play that player in younger age divisions at the State Championships if possible in order to benefit the team.Age divisions offered in each tournament will include green ball co-ed 10’s, boys & girls 12’s, boys & girls 14’s and boys & girls 16-18's. Current point standings are available at www.EastTexasTennis.topdoglive.com by clicking on any junior gran prix tournament then on the STANDINGS tab in the top right corner of the page. It is the player’s responsibility to check point standings and notify the tournament director within 10 days of any event he/she feels like the points might have been awarded incorrectly.

USTA membership is not required to participate in any of the East Texas Jr. Gran Prix tournaments or the State Championships. All local tournaments will offer consolation and or round robin play if less than (5) in the draw. If a division has only 2 players in the tournament when the draw is made the tournament director will give those players the option to withdraw for full refund or be moved into the next higher division. Players must notify the tournament of their decision within 24 hours after the Monday deadline. Match format will be based on the size of the tournament and draws.Green Dot balls will be used for all 10 & Under divisions.USTA rules govern match play. Parents are not permitted on the courts or allowed to coach. The only way to enter the tournaments is at www.EastTexasTennis.topdoglive.com. If you have any questions please contact any of the tournament director listed on the tournament home page.

Hollytree Club Policy for Non Member League Players

Hollytree league teams should be a minimum of 60% Hollytree Club Members in good standing throughout the league season and will be permitted to be listed on a maximum of 2 rosters per calendar year. All Non Members will owe a $50 “team fee” for each league roster they are listed on. This fee will be charged to the team captain as early as the last day of the month preceding league play if not paid by the non member prior to the start of the league. This league fee is not considered a “guest” fee but is only a charge for the non member to be on the roster. Fees will not be refunded if the non member does not play.

All Non Members on Hollytree Teams will be allowed to participate in a captain designated “team practice” once per week beginning 14 days prior to the team’s first scheduled match and ending one day prior to the team’s last scheduled local league match. It will be the captain’s responsibility to designate the practice as the one “team practice” at the time the reservation is made. If guests do no come it is still the only designated “team practice” for the week. Once guest fees are charged for a practice credits will not be given at a later date if the captain did not designate a practice as the one “team practice” for that week. At least (4) team members including at least one Hollytree member must be present in order for a practice to be designated a “team practice”. If the captain reserves the courts he/she will be billed applicable guest fees if the guests do not pay prior to play. If a “team practice” is rained out or canceled for any reason it may be rescheduled if time allows during that particular week. For “team practice” purposes each week will begin on Sunday and end on Saturday. If a non member cannot attend the team captain’s designated team practice or if the team does not hold a team practice he/she cannot apply that visit to a later visit.

In addition to the designated “team practice” Non Members will be permitted to play up to two times per calendar month by paying the club’s guest fee.

Hollytree Captains are asked to notify the pro shop by email prior to having players register for any Hollytree Teams.

This policy will go into effect for all leagues with roster deadlines after February 29, 2020 and remain in effect for the 2020 calendar year. The policy will be reviewed and possibly revised in November 2020 prior to the beginning of any leagues in 2021.

2020 East Texas USPTA Fall League!

The 2020 Tie Break System will follow the columns on the Leaderboard

League Information: The East Texas USPTA adult league is open for all players ages 18 & above as of the end of 2020. Players do not have to be a member of the USTA or USPTA to participate. Teams consist of a minimum of 6 players eligible to compete at the team’s level of play. Players should play by their most recent published USTA rating. Any player who was DQ'd at any time after January 2020 ratings were published must play at that higher rating. If a player appealed his/her rating he/she must play by the appealed decision. If a player already has a self rating from earlier leagues and no published rating then that self rating must be used. Players with no rating may join any team he/she feels he/she is eligible for. Self rated players are subject to review and disqualification at any time by USPTA pros committee. Ratings entered by players on their EastTexasTennis.com account are not always current.

Team Registration: EastTexasTennis.topdoglive.com will be used for all USPTA team registrations. All players should login to EastTexasTennis.topdoglive.com and create a free account. When you fill out your free account informationPLEASE be sure and fill out all information requested so we can contact you with schedule changes and league updates. All players must pay the $20 player fee during registration with a credit or debit card. When you register please be sure and write down your user ID and password. Duplicate accounts can cause problems with team scores so please don’t create two accounts. If you have forgotten your password please click the "email me my password" button so you do not end up with two accounts and not get credit for your matches played. After you register you should see your name on the team roster within a few hours.

To Join a Team: Go to EastTexasTennis.topdoglive.com and create a free account if you don't already have one. Click "email me my password" if you have an account but forgot your login information. Please do not create another account or your scores and matches will not be recorded properly. Please be sure and fill out all requested information so you can be contacted with league updates, schedules, scores, etc. Once you have created an account click on the red “Sign Up” button next to the division you would like to enter and select your captain’s name. Once you pay the $20 league fee you will be listed on the roster! There are no additional fees for the online registration. Follow these same steps if you would like to join another team at a different level of play. Refunds cannot be given for any reasonbut we will have the ability to move players from one team to another at no additional charge if necessary prior to theSeptember 12 player add deadline and as long as they have not played a match.

League Details:

League format will be two lines of doubles play each week – Line #1 worth 5 points and Line #2 worth 3 points for the win (captains must not only enter scores weekly but must also enter the points won).

Match starting times will be scheduled between 6:00 and 8:30 p.m / Facilities allowing several teams to play on a given night could have 8:30 match starting times which will follow the 6pm or 7pm matches.

Anyone with permission to reserve two lighted outdoor hard courts for the length of the season may form his/her own team. Facilities are not required to provide “warm up courts” prior to the match start time. Please check with your home facility for any policies they might have on requirements for forming teams.

The length of each league season will be based on the number of teams entered / some levels may be divided into two flights and some may have a playoff

Teams may have a few matches scheduled on days other than “normal” day of play - this is due to scheduling and court conflicts not a team’s choice

Winning teams will advance to the USTPA Texas State Team Championships in Houston January 22-24, 2021. The Houston tournament could have both indoor and outdoor matches.

Players must play at least two regular season local league matches (and at least one playoff match if applicable) to advance to state championships. If a team is scheduled to play 9 or more matches then a player must play in at least (3) regular season matches + a playoff match if applicable in order to advance to the state championships. Defaults do not count as a match played so don’t wait until the end of the season to get your two matches in. A continuation of a round robin with certain teams is not always considered a "playoff". Most playoffs are when a divison has too many teams to play a round robin with everyone playing everyone and the teams are divided into two flights with the flight winners playing a playoff to see who advances to Houston. Any "playoff" will be identified as a "playoff" in all correspondence to captains.

All matches will be 2 out of 3 tie-break sets with a 10-point super tiebreak for split set matches

Home team is responsible for providing new balls for each home match.

For larger schedules mandatory rain make up dates will be listed on the website. Please try to make up your rain outs as soon as possible. Teams are not permitted to reschedule matches for any reason other than wet courts unless both teams agree to AND play the match PRIOR to the scheduled date. For no reason other than weather related issues should a match be postponed to be played at alaterdate unless rescheduled by or with the league coordinator.

Teams will receive 5 points for winning line #1 and 3 for line #2. If one line must be defaulted the defaulting team must default line #1. It is out of courtesy that the defaulting team notify the opponents about the default but it is not mandatory.

Players are permitted to play on as many teams as desired but only one team per level. All teams must have at least (3) players rated at the teams level of play in order for teams to "play up". Playing on two teams is not a reason to call your opponent and try to reschedule a team match even if both matches happen to be scheduled for the same time. If a team defaults both lines in a given match the team will receive a -6 for their score.

All grievances should be emailed to coordinator within 24 hours. The local grievance committee will consist of (3) local USPTA pros. Please send emails to league coordinator within 24 hours of the issue.

All captains must have a minimum of 6 players registered by Monday, August 10. The league coordinator will have the ability to move players to other teams by request but no refunds will be given once a player has registered and paid online. Teams may continue to add players until September 12, 2020.

League Play Begins:

Not before August 31: Monday 4.0 M&W, Tuesday 3.5 M&W, Wednesdays 4.5 M&W, Thursdays 3.0 M&W

Depending on number of teams at each club teams may be scheduled on days other than those above

Please call Jim or Jessica in the Hollytree Tennis Shop for more information or for help registering yourself or your team.

It's time to find a member or a guest partner and sign up for the 2020 Hollytree Member-Guest Davis Cup! The Hollytree Davis Cup is the flagship event of the year for Tennis in the East Texas area. The tournament is open to all Hollytree MTA and WTA members and their invited guests and will be held November 13-15, 2020.

Non Members are welcome and encouraged to ask any of our club members to be your partner and join us for this fun event at Hollytree!

The Davis Cup is a men's and ladies doubles-team tournament. Hollytree MTA & WTA members are invited to sign up with a doubles partner of similar skill level for a fun weekend full of tennis, music, food & beverages and lots of fun. All doubles teams will be flighted into groups of (6) and each doubles team will play a 10 game set against the other (5) doubles teams in your respective flight. Players may sign up now to hold a spot and all signed up should have a designated partner no later than September 15, 2020. Flights will be determined once sign up is complete and are based on ratings as much as possible but teams do not sign up for specific divisions but are placed into flights as close to your level of play as possible. Each doubles team will also be strategically placed on a Country along with one doubles team from each of the other flights. Teams are competing for a chance to win their respective flight by winning all (5) of their weekend matches as well as competing for a chance to win the team championship by earning points for their country for each set won.

Tennis will begin on Saturday morning November 14 and all doubles teams will play (3) matches on Saturday and (2) on Sunday. All matches will be 10 game sets (first team to win 10 games) with no ad scoring and a tie break to 7 at 9-games all. All matches will be played at Hollytree (weather permitting) during the day on Saturday or Sunday. It is possible for us to work around a 1 or 2 hour time conflict on either day if you make sure and talk to us about the details of your time conflict prior to signing up for the event. We will not plan on playing any matches prior to the start of the event on Saturday. In addition to (5) matches all players will receive a tournament t-shirt, goody bag, Friday night court side dinner as well as Saturday & Sunday courtside breakfast, court side lunch and evening hors d' oeuvres. We will have live entertainment all three evenings for players and invited guests. Based on sponsorship commitments other amenities could be added to the weekend.

This tournament would not be possible without the generous support of our tournament sponsors. The sponsorship commitments allow us to provide additional and upgraded meals, beverages and entertainment that would not be possible with their support. The tournament will initially be limited to 30 men's teams and 30 ladies teams. The tournament entry fee for immediate entry into the event without sponsorship is $260 for MTA/WTA Members and $290 for guests. A lottery sign up is also available in the pro shop for discounted entry into the tournament based on space available at the close of sponsorship and open entry. Once sponsorship and sign up ends we will know how many spaces we have remaining in the tournament and those remaining spaces will then be filled. Hopefully we will have spots for everyone on the list. If we have more teams on this list than we have spots for then sign up will continue until the lottery drawing. If we have room for all teams on the lottery list then all teams will be entered into the event and others on a space available and level basis until the tournament is full. If a lottery is necessary then each MTA or WTA members names will go into the drawing giving Member-Member teams a better chance of getting into the tournament than a member-guest team. Partners who are not MTA/WTA members will not have their names placed in the lottery drawing. The reduced lottery entry fee of $170 for MTA/WTA members and $200 for all others gives all members not interested in sponsorship or paying the regular tournament entry fee an opportunity to participate in the event.

We hope everyone will be able to find a partner and join us for this fun weekend event at the club. If you have any questions or need help finding a partner let us know and we'll be glad to help! If you're interested in serving on any of the tournament committee's such as F&B, Entertainment, Decorations, Awards, Goody Bags, etc please let us know!We hope you will make plans to join us as a player or spectator for this great event.
